Ektor's quality processes
Device compliance is essential to ensuring that building emergency lighting systems are safe and effective. Products must meet strict performance and operational standards so they function correctly in an emergency. At Ektor, we take our commitment to customers, to safety, and to product compliance seriously. “Reliability when it counts” reflects this commitment, and we design our products with compliance and long-term reliability as a priority, employing robust systems to ensure our products are consistent and dependable.
When contractors, building managers, or electricians choose an emergency lighting solution, they need to be able to trust that it can be relied upon in an emergency not just next week, but for years to come. Choosing a trusted manufacturer that takes product quality seriously and has a proven track record, like Ektor, is the best safeguard against non-compliant or faulty products. So how does Ektor consistently deliver high-quality, dependable lighting?

In-house testing
Ektor products are manufactured in our wholly Australian-owned facility, giving us full control over every stage of the production process from sourcing raw materials and components to manufacturing, assembly, product development, and final testing.
Our factory operates under a quality management system certified to ISO9001:2015 and is independently audited by TÜV SÜD. Every product undergoes rigorous testing and compliance checks, including:
- Incoming goods inspections of materials and components
- In-line safety testing
- Function and reliability testing
- Batch testing
- Comprehensive record-keeping

Did you know?
Every battery-powered Ektor product is subjected to a full discharge and recharge cycle under maximum loads and at increased environmental temperatures for up to 32 hours to ensure correct operation before being approved.
Third-party testing
In addition to our thorough in-house testing processes, one of the key aspects of our quality system is third-party testing. Before any of our products are shipped out to customers, they are assessed by independent, NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) certified laboratories and other MRA (Mutual Recognition Arrangement) facilities to ensure they meet Australian and New Zealand standards.

Products designed to endure
Creating a dependable lighting product begins with thoughtful design. Our emergency and commercial lighting products are Australian-designed for local conditions and requirements, with reliability front-and-centre. Whether it’s our Core or Professional ranges, each product is engineered with its design-life in mind, that is, the number of years a product should reliably perform under harsh operating conditions. Heat is a major determining factor in the lifespan of a lighting product, and we design and test all products for an ambient temperature of 40°C, reflecting the harsh reality of local conditions.
Industry accreditation and product innovation

Parent company Evolt is a proud accredited member of the Lighting Council of Australia. Accreditation requires evidence of compliance and quality systems, ESG initiatives, and innovation and product stewardship. Ektor’s history of innovation in the emergency lighting market demonstrates the expertise of our engineering and management teams and reflects our commitment to continuous improvement for our customers to create safer, better performing products.
Some of our achievements include:
- First in Australia with a DALI emergency exit sign
- First emergency light with an expandable dish design
- First Australian manufacturer to switch entirely to using Lithium batteries
- First full range of Wi-Fi-enabled emergency devices (2015)
- First range of fully compliant and certified DALI products
- Worldwide leaders in the deployment of IEC62386-104 wireless emergency products (2020)
Emergency lighting can be overlooked until it’s needed. At Ektor, we understand that our products may only be called into action in the most critical moments, and that’s why every part of our design and manufacturing process is held to such high standards. We aim to give customers long-term confidence, not just compliance.
